Stories from the HALT Campaign…and Next Steps Ahead, A Two-Part Webinar Series 1.50 CE hours each
On March 31, 2021, Governor Cuomo signed the HALT Bill (Humane Alternatives to Long Term Solitary Confinement ACT, 2021) limiting the usage of solitary confinement in the state of ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿. This is a historic event, restricting the usage of this damaging and traumatizing, torturous practice and banning it entirely for people with disabilities, seniors, youth, and new and pregnant moms.
The ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ Cultural Competence Committee will host a two-part Webinar series aimed at affording advocates from the campaign the opportunity to share their powerful stories and lived experiences that lead to the passage of HALT legislation that has brought foundational change to ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿â€™s criminal justice system.
Hear how HALT Solitary advocates are now looking to build on this extraordinary victory to press for additional criminal justice reforms.
