Presenters’ BiographyÌý

Emily Grossman, MA, CPRP:Ìý Emily Grossman, currently a Training and Technical Assistance Facilitator for the ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ Association of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services (ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿), trains mental health professionals throughout ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ City, the boroughs, and Long Island on providing recovery-oriented services. She previously worked in Supported Employment as a Job Coach for the Mental Health Association in New Jersey. Ms. Grossman is the author of two books on recovery, “There and Back Again: A Mental Health Recovery Book by Someone Who Has Lived It,” and “There and Back Again, Too: Because Kids and Teens Who Struggle with Their Mental Health Can Get Better, Too.” She is the founder of The Dream Team Coaches, LLC, a peer life coaching company.Ìý Ms. Grossman received a master’s degree in education from Columbia University, and a bachelor’s degree in English from Rutgers University.Ìý

Colleen Sheehan, CPRP:ÌýColleen Sheehan, currently a Training and Technical Assistance Facilitator for the ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ Association of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services (ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿), trains mental health professionals throughout ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ City, the boroughs, and Long Island on providing recovery-oriented services. ÌýMs.Sheehan has lived experience in the mental health system with over 15 years experience promoting mental health system change. In 2005 I attended the WRAP Conference in Amherst, MA and discovered a new powerful tool to understand and manage my mental health- it changed my life.Ìý In my role with ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ I have facilitated WRAP planning for ACT teams in NYS.Ìý I have introduced and supported WRAP Planning to mental health agencies, peer specialsts, academia and hospitals including some involved in the SAMSHA “Positive Alternatives to Restraint and Seclusion” Grant. ÌýIn 2012 I became a Copeland Center Certified Faciliator. Colleen believes in WRAP and is pleased it is now an Evidence Based Practice.Ìý

Luis O. Lopez, MS, HSBCP, is an Implementation Specialist for the Focus on Integrated Treatment (FIT) Initiative at the Center for Practice Innovations (CPI), Division of Mental Health Services and Policy Research, ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ State Psychiatric Institute.

Luis joined the CPI team in February. He has been involved in the implementation and application of Evidence Based Practices since 2003.Ìý He has facilitated educational sessions on Ethics, Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Integrated Treatment, Family Psycho-Education, Cultural Competency, Stages of Change, Harm Reduction, WRAP and Wellness Self Management.Ìý Luis has presented at 30+ conferences – including theÌýNYS-OMH ACT Conference, the Annual ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ Conference, ACTA Conference, ACLAIMH and the North American Housing and Special Needs Conference. Luis consulted for OMH / ACT Institute for three years (2008-2011).Ìý Luis also participated in the NYS COD Training Module Initiative coordinated by NYSOMH, Center for Practice Innovations and Dartmouth Psychiatric Research Center.Ìý

Luis has worked in the behavioral health care field for over 25 years.Ìý Prior to joining CPI, Luis worked for Services for the Underserved (SUS) for 10 years serving as the Director for Training. Prior to that, Luis was the team leader for the SUS ACT team.
