Mental health disparities affect Latinos in the areas of assessment, diagnosis, access to services, quality of care, training, and research. There are few Latino researchers and limited research focused on the mental health of this group. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Affordable Care Act) is creating new opportunities to reduce health disparities among minorities. We are delighted to provide a venue in which to spotlight and encourage up-and-coming researchers in Latino mental health and to engage stakeholders in a discussion about programmatic, policy, and research priorities to address mental health disparities affecting Latinos.
