Kristin M. Woodlock, RN, MPA named Acting Commissioner of NYSOMH
On Tuesday, October 30, 2012, Governor Andrew Cuomo named Kristin M. Woodlock as Acting Commissioner of the ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ State Office of Mental Heath. Kristin replaces Dr. Michael Hogan, Ph.D. as Commissioner. Dr. Hogan retired from service after leading the Office of Mental Health since 2007.Ìý
Prior to her appointment as Acting Commissioner, Kristin Woodlock was appointed Executive Deputy Commissioner of the ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ State Office of Mental Health in 2011.ÌýFunctioning as the chief operating officer, she oversaw the operation of the second largest hospital system in the State (24Ìýpsychiatric hospitals)Ìýand continues to oversee ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿â€™s $5 billion public mental health system that serves 650,000Ìýindividuals annually. Ms. Woodlock is dedicated to developing a public mental health system that is focused on recovery and resiliency, a beacon of hope.
She served as the Deputy Commissioner for the Division of Children and Family ServicesÌýfrom 2008-2011, where she led implementation ofÌýThe Children’s Plan: Improving the Social and Emotional Well Being of ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿â€™s Children and their Families.ÌýÌý
Ms. Woodlock worked in County government for 15 years, serving as Deputy Commissioner of Mental Health for Onondaga County.ÌýShe is aÌýRegistered Nurse with a Masters degree in Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University.ÌýShe and her husband David are the parents of six young adults.
